Chief Financial Officer Job Locations US-MA-Brockton Posted Date 3 days ago (12/4/2020 11:00 PM) Job ID 2020-3693 # of Openings 1 Category Accounting/Finance Schedule M - F City Brockton State/Province Massachusetts Postal Code 02301 Overview Reporting to the President & Chief Executive Officer (President & CEO), the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will play a critical role in developing and implementing our organizational financial strategy and monitoring organizational fiscal performance. As a member of the Executive Management Team, the CFO will also be an advisor to divisional vice presidents, evaluating and assisting as needed with the development of budgets, the design of financial plans and subsequent ongoing financial performance, as well as general oversight and management of agency financial policies/procedures and systems. The candidate will be responsible for overseeing all fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities for the organization, in conjunction with the President & CEO and the Treasurer of the Board of Directors. Responsibilities Strategy:

  • In partnership with the divisional vice presidents, the CFO will assess organizational performance against both the annual budget and the organizational financial plan.
  • Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the President & CEO and Leadership Team, and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations.
  • Engage the Executive Management Team understanding and integrating issues, patterns and trends, strategizing changes in the organizational practices, operating model(s) and operational delivery, and annual financial objectives.
  • Oversee monthly, short and long-term budgetary planning, and costs management in alignment with our agency's service delivery and operational systems.
  • Work closely with the Treasurer of the Board of Directors in order that the Board is well educated in terms of its fiduciary duties. Financial and Operational Management:
    • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, regulatory requirements, and audit requirements. Advance, develop and sustain ongoing internal control safeguards, and implement best financial and other business practices throughout the organization.
    • Partner with the Executive Management Team to procure specialized grants and contracts from private and public entities to support the operation and the needs of the organization.
    • Manage cash flow forecasting and all of the agency's commercial lines of credit. Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs. Optimize the handling of banking relationships to initiate appropriate financing strategies and enhance cash flow.
    • Oversee contracts and budgeting and the implementation of budgets for the organization, monitoring overall progress and present financial metrics both internally and externally.
    • Manage and track the performance of the agency's fund-raising and endowment activities in keeping with the policies and investment guidelines established by the agency as well as by state and federal regulation.
    • Develop policies, procedures, and protocols to support agency operations in a fiscally sound manner with attention to Internal Controls and reporting requirements.
    • Initiate periodic review of systems, oversee and implement improvements to meet dynamic changing needs of the organization. Team Management:
      • Mentor, supervise, and develop the staff assigned to the Business Office, ultimately managing work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance evaluation, and the building of an effective dynamic team.
      • Foster and facilitate cross-divisional teamwork and training within the Business Office across the agency, and with all agency external stakeholders.
      • Collaborate and build positive working relationships with agency managers, executive staff, Board of Directors, funders, community partners and vendors.
      • Take the role of chief financial educator for the agency, responsible for raising the financial literacy at all departments and field operations. Qualifications The CFO will be a seasoned and mature leader, preferably with at least 10 years of broad based accounting and/or contract experience. Must also have demonstrated experience gathering and evaluating financial information, making actionable recommendations to senior leadership. They will have experience supervising staff and managing the finance function (accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting) within a diverse, division-based organization. The CFO must have the following experience and attributes:
        • MBA or a CPA
        • A minimum of 10 years of CFO experience is preferred
        • Demonstrable passion for non-profit management and have a hands-on approach to management
        • Mature and proactive, with evidence of having worked as a true team member and business partner within a multi-divisional organization
        • Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model
        • Deep understanding of an experience with Office of Management and Budget and the audit process in Massachusetts; Knowledge of state contracting and procurement a plus
        • Experience successfully partnering with I.S. staff to manage critical financial management systems
        • An effective communicator at all levels in the organization, with strong oral and written skills and a willingness to share information
        • A collaborative and flexible style of management with a strong service approach
