Developmental Center is a historic state-run medical facility for
the treatment of psychiatric and developmental disorders. Hope has
partnered with Wrentham Developmental Center to provide essential
habilitative services to the individuals residing at the facility.

residents while promoting residents' independence and functional
ability across varied settings.Job SummaryThe Physical Education
Specialist provides individualized physical education instruction
or services to residents of Wrentham Developmental Center with
exceptional physical/medical needs due to gross motor and/or
developmental delays, as well as other medical impairments or
challenges. Essential FunctionsProvide adapted physical education
services to residents with intellectual/developmental disabilities,
autism, traumatic brain injury, orthopedic impairments, or other
disabling conditions.Adapt instructional techniques to the age and
skill levels of the residents.Instruct residents, using adapted
physical education techniques, to improve physical fitness, gross
motor skills, perceptual motor skills, or sports and game
achievement.Assist in screening or placement of residents in
adapted physical education programs.Assess each resident's physical
progress or needs, in conjunction with other clinical team
members.Establish and maintain standards of behavior to create
safe, orderly, and effective environments for learning.Provide
individual or small groups of students with adapted physical
education instruction that meets desired physical needs or
goals.Evaluate the motor needs of individual residents to determine
their need for adapted physical education services.Maintain
thorough resident records to document attendance, participation, or
progress, ensuring confidentiality of all such records. Marginal
FunctionsAssume responsibility as a mandated reporter concerning
incidents of purported abuse/neglect of individuals as outlined in
the agency's policies and procedures.Perform other duties as
required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the
duties enumerated above. Training, Academic, and Experiential
RequirementsMust be at least 21 years of age.Must possess at least
a bachelor's degree.Successful background clearance, physical,
drug/alcohol screeningPreferred QualificationsThe ability to
communicate clearly and effectively (both written and orally) in a
professional manner, with all levels of employees. Also, the
ability to interact and lead effectively on a multidisciplinary
team.Enhanced understanding of medical/clinical records, consents
and confidentialityExceptional communication, interpersonal, and
analytical, problem solving skills Ability to handle multiple
complex tasks or assignments, consistently producing high quality
work Proficiency in the use of personal computers and software
applicationsKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesThe ability to
communicate clearly and effectively (both written and orally) in a
professional manner, with all levels of employees. The ability to
train, mentor, and direct others in a clinically or
process-oriented manner. Possesses the ability to lead others,
inspire positive change and good customer service is vital. Working
ConditionsThe work is done primarily at Wrentham Developmental
Center. The work does not include significant usage of a motor
vehicle. The work may also require exposure to low to medium
amounts of noise in a long-term residential setting. On occasion,
the work may require flexible hours outside of normal business
