Job Description:

Corin is seeking a R&D Engineer Hips to design orthopaedic implant and instrumentation for all Corin Group products within the New Product Introduction (NPI) Research and Development Team. This role will be based in Raynham US and will be part of the Global R&D team which is based in the UK, France, and Australia. This role will suit a Biomedical Engineering Graduate who has worked within a orthopaedic design environment for the last 3-5 years and is confident conversing with surgeons on knee arthroplasty.

Corin offers a unique combination of clinically proven hip & knee solutions and world leading technologies, our OMNIBotics & OPS systems utilize intelligent instrumentation to give surgeons the ability to perform patient-specific procedures with high accuracy, with more consistent results and improved recovery rates.

The key responsibilities of the R&D Engineer Hips re to:
Design of implants and associated instrumentation systems.
Engage and lead development meetings with surgeons.
Generate design concepts and detail designs for manufacture using CAD (NX) and PLM (Teamcenter)
Follow design, CAD, FEA and PLM best practice; lead brainstorming and problem solving as required.
Create Design Control and Risk Management documentation including Input-Output Specification. Verification and Validation plans, Hazard Analysis and Risk Reports in compliance with design control and risk management procedures.
Support the global R&D teams with the maintenance of existing products for MDR, 510(k) and PMDA submissions
Use analytical tools such as FEA to develop and verify product designs and worst cases analysis for testing.
Plan and commission verification and validation testing and write technical reports (product and materials)
Generate full design package to facilitate design transfer to production in collaboration with Production and Quality Engineering function
Collaborate closely with global R&D teams in US/UK/France/Australia
Create documentation for CE MDR/510(k)/PMDA regulatory files
Provide biomechanical expertise applied to orthopaedic implantable and reusable devices.
Interact with global Manufacturing, Production Engineering, Quality and Regulatory teams to ensure effective introduction of new devices and compliance with regulation.
Manage effectively internal and external stakeholders in a professional manner and using the most appropriate delivery method.
Project manage key parts of projects and / or whole projects from start to finish including resource coordination within the project team.
Generate new design ideas and think creatively to solve biomechanical and design problems.
Maintain appropriate clinical and technical knowledge in the field of orthopaedics.
Adhere to Corin's Quality Management System, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and quality standards (IS013485 QMS and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) FDA21 CFR Part 820)
Work in a safe, efficient, and diligent manner and comply with health and safety policies and procedures.


The ideal Biomedical Engineer / NPI Bioengineer will:
Have a BEng or BSc in a relevant subject such as Biomedical Engineer, Mechanical Engineering or Product Design or equivalent
3-5 years relevant experience within the medical industry or orthopaedic field within a similar role in R&D, Product Development or Research industry occupation with a hip portfolio.
Able to build strong relationships and collaborate with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
Have a high level of computer literacy and master best practice to achieve required efficiency
Have strong organisational and planning abilities for self and others, track multiple tasks at various levels of completion
Demonstrate effective decision making and work under own initiative.
Have the ability to assimilate large amounts of data or information into manageable tasks.
Have excellent written and verbal communication, including technical report writing.
Have a high level of accountability and ownership for own work, collaboration with others and end project deliveries
