Job Description Job Description Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance tasks on bakery equipment, including automated packaging equipment and ovens. This role involves scheduled maintenance on plant equipment and timely responses to equipment stoppages or mechanical breakdowns. The ideal candidate will troubleshoot issues, repair and replace worn or defective parts, and operate shop equipment to make required parts. They are bringing in new robotic equipment and looking for someone to have knowledge there. Maintaining an inventory of spare parts and tools is also essential. The position requires serving on the Safety Team and adhering to GMPs and food safety practices. Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance tasks on bakery equipment. Conduct scheduled maintenance on plant equipment. Respond to and resolve equipment stoppages and mechanical breakdowns promptly. Troubleshoot and repair worn or defective parts, motors, and control devices. Operate shop equipment and fabricate necessary parts. Maintain an inventory of spare parts and tools. Serve on the Safety Team and follow GMPs and food safety practices. Work various days, hours, and shifts, including night or weekend 'on call' rotations. Essential Skills 5 years of experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance. Good understanding of food handling. Ability to work independently and as a team player. Capability to make judgment calls in the absence of the Operations Manager. Proficiency in working with gearboxes, blueprints, and schematics. Additional Skills & Qualifications Military background is preferred. Two-year degree from college or technical school, or equivalent combination of 3 to 5 years of related experience in manufacturing. Willingness to learn unique food and beverage machinery. The first shift runs from Monday to Thursday, 4:30 AM to 1:00 PM, and Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Dress code and safety procedures must be followed at all times. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of East Hartford, CT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55120.00 - $55120.00/yr.
