hiring for a Senior Director, R&D Strategy & Operations. The
Senior Director of Depuy Synthes R&D will work closely with the
Depuy Synthes R&D Leadership Team (Franchise and Platform
Leaders), Depuy Synthes cross-functional Platform Leadership Teams
and across the Medical Devices Sector to drive and improve
end-to-end innovation strategy, portfolio and execution. They will
lead the R&D organization through mapping of the current state,
and identification of opportunities and challenges and build an
integrated roadmap to strengthen strategic alignment and improve
executional effectiveness that is implemented in partnership with
Depuy Synthes R&D leaders.Key ResponsibilitiesIncreases
Effectiveness of New Product DevelopmentMaps the current state New
Product Development (NPD) process, governance, skills, and culture
and identifies the most impactful opportunities to drive
improvements to NPD effectivenessIdentifies the most critical
metrics to track NPD performance and measure improvement, resulting
from change initiativesLeads critical change initiatives to improve
the agility and rigor of new product development leading to
validated improvement in target metricsLeads all aspects of
organizational talent development in critical execution skills
(e.g. governance, project management and Design To Value) across
all leadership and professional levelsDrives a Culture of
Innovation and Executional ExcellenceDrives cultural change across
Depuy Synthes, in partnership with Depuy Synthes and Medical Device
R&D Leadership Teams -and Depuy Synthes Platform Leadership
Teams to increase engagement and business resultsEnhances
transparency, connectivity, empowerment and simplification across
the organizationImproves portfolio health and
decision-makingEnhances front end process and capabilities to
identify and deliver new pipeline opportunities from both organic
and external sourcesImproves portfolio decision-making and
tradeoffs to ensure Depuy Synthes is collectively selecting and
fully resourcing the most impactful opportunities.Responsible for
driving process and approach for Depuy Synthes unmet need
identification and value assessment -Significantly increases
overall pipeline value -Drives strategic alignmentPartners with
Depuy Synthes Regional Leadership Teams and Platform Leadership
Teams to align to vision, mission and innovation goalsEnsures
clarity of role for each platform in driving the future
strategyAdditional Responsibilities Serves as a member of Depuy
Synthes R&D Leadership teamEffectively plans and manages
timelines and budget Leads with compliance approach and ensures all
certifications/requirements for their team are complete and up to
dateSupports team development, constantly assessing capabilities,
managing performance outcomes and attracting the best talent -
Builds and maintains relationships at all levels throughout the
organization, including peersQualificationsBachelors' degree or
higher in an Engineering or Science field is required; -Biomedical,
Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering focus is
preferred.An advanced degree is preferred.Minimum of 15 years of
related, progressive business experience, preferably in Medical
Devices or Engineered Consumer Healthcare Products Minimum of 10
years of experience in leading and managing others Must possess
strong knowledge of engineering fundamentalsStrong project
management and change leadership skills are requiredSolid
collaboration skills, within complex environments is
requiredSurgical knowledge is preferred 15-25% domestic and
