Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Signature Healthcare Brockton, MA

health of our patients. The Opportunity The CFO is responsible for
the development, interpretation, coordination, and administration
of SHC's policies for financial operations. He/she is responsible
for the maintenance of records and procedures required to
adequately safeguard the assets of the organization and ensuring
the timely and accurate preparation of periodic financial
statements. The CFO participates in strategic planning and
financial planning activities to ensure their compatibility with
SHC's financial capacity and financial performance objectives. The
CFO is a key member of SHC's senior leadership team and reports
directly to the President and CEO, Mr. Robert Haffey. He/she
collaborates with other members of the leadership team to promote
SHC's mission and values while achieving defined objectives. The
Finance Division encompasses all finance functions for the system
(both hospital and medical group), including accounting, budgeting,
financial planning and analysis, revenue cycle, materials
management, managed care contracting, and treasury. In total, there
are approximately 100 staff members within the Finance Division.
Our ideal candidate will specifically possess:
- A bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline
(accounting/finance) and a master's degree in business
administration, finance, or related field is required.
- Certified Public Accountant is desirable, but not required.
- Minimum of eight years of progressively responsible financial
management experience within a complex healthcare setting.
- Experience within a safety net health system environment and/or
track record of managing successfully in a financially stressed
environment is highly preferred.
- Proven experience building and leading an effective and
cohesive financial division, as well as helping to develop tools,
processes, and culture to support system-wide integration.
- Able to motivate staff to get things done and able create a
culture of accountability.
- A progressive thinker: able to see the big picture and not
react hastily with short-term fixes.
- Demonstrates a clear vision for the finance function that
supports the mission / vision of SHC.
- An aptitude for mentorship; praises staff and rewards them for
a job well done.
- Confident and self-assured in dealing with key
constituencies.
- Able to synthesize complex financial information issues into
simple, clear points everyone will understand.
- Skilled at managing upward and downward.
- Possesses good judgment and is politically astute; ideally
knows the federal and state players and local marketplace.
- Approachable and accessible to staff; encourages honesty and
the sharing of information, even if the news is not positive.
- A change agent who has influence with top management, driver of
strategy for the organization.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; adept at
making presentations to Boards and finance committees. The
Organization Signature Healthcare (SHC) is an independent,
non-profit, community-based healthcare system based in Brockton,
Massachusetts. Located approximately 15-20 miles south of greater
Boston, and 45 miles north of Providence, Signature Healthcare is
