Job Description:
The Operations Manager's overall responsibility for warehousing
and delivery of products. - Management of Operations Department in
a way that maximizes safety, service and productivity. The
Operations Manager will utilize their proven operational skills,
obsession with employee safety, and service to further accelerate
our wholesale business. Must possess a strategic understanding of
best in class planning processes, techniques, and tools to quickly
assess gaps to address.
What you'll be doing:
- Overall supervision of all operations department
personnel
- Ensure that safety procedures and programs are being
followed
- Ensure productivity programs are being followed
- Ensure quality control processes are being followed
- Long-term planning of goals and assessment of needs regarding
equipment and personnel
- Accurate accounting for inventory
- Formulation and maintenance of delivery schedules and
routes
- Coordinate maintenance of vehicles and other equipment
- Supervise Operations Department personnel and
procedures
- Ensure proper upkeep of the warehouse and grounds
- Coordinate communication between departments and within the
department
- Conduct regular departmental meetings
- Conduct regular and annual performance evaluations of
subordinates
- Ensure appropriate career path of subordinates
- Formulate and implement safety programs
- Prepare and analyze warehouse and delivery budgets
- Ensure timely filing of any and all insurance claims
- Special projects as assigned
What you'll need to succeed: -
- Bachelor's degree, MBA preferred
- Ability and willingness to work all shifts as necessary to
evaluate the performance of shift managers and fill in when
necessary
- Previous experience managing in Union envrionments
- Strong statistical knowledge and possess the mindset that data
analysis brings solutions
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience in warehousing and delivery of consumer
goods
- Strong decision-making ability
- Ability and willingness to work independently
- Ability to manage competing demands and deal with frequent
change, delays, and unexpected events
- Knowledge and experience with DOT regulations
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to develop and
motivate a team
- Proficient in Microsoft software
Critical -physical demands required:
- Walking and climbing steps and stairs
- Two-handed lifting, handling, and carrying cases from floor to
overhead on a frequent basis
- Two-handed lifting, handling, carrying quarter barrels from
floor to 36" on an occasional basis
- Two-handed lifting, handling, carrying half barrels from floor
to 48" on an occasional basis
- Pushing and pulling two-wheeled hand truck with cases and/or
barrels on level surfaces and up and/or downstairs on a frequent
basis
- Pushing and pulling pallet jacks with cases and/or barrels on
level surfaces
- Sustained squatting, kneeling, stooping, and bending while
moving cases and barrels
