Overview Senior Clinical Review Team (SCRT) Clinician oversees the SCRT and SCRT process for the Sex Offender Treatment program. The Clinician will supervise the referral process, SCRT interviews, and SCRT responses. They also provide sex offender treatment and assessment services to program participants. Qualifications Education: Masters or Doctoral degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related human services field Experience: Prior clinical experience working with sexual offenders and an understanding of dynamic risk related to re-offense
Familiarity with relevant research literature, clinical assessments, procedures and methods, particularly those designed for sexual offenders Licenses/Certifications: Licensed or license-eligible as a Psychologist, Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), or Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).
Responsibilities Provide clinical oversight and consultation with independently licensed clinicians for treatment decisions that affect inmates and residents in Sex Offender Treatment (SOT) at the Massachusetts Department of Correction (DOC).
Oversee the discussion and treatment team referral process for inmate/resident meetings with the SCRT.
Assist in the determination of the approval or denial of SCRT referrals.
Participate in the SCRT interview process.
Organize the administrative needs and scheduling of the SCRT meetings, including formally informing inmates/residents of the date/time and location of the SCRT meeting.
Review available and relevant information about the inmate/resident, including clinical documents, comprehensive assessments, CAB reports, and/or interviews with relevant clinical staff, inmates or residents, etc., prior to making a decision.
Coordinate with the SCRT members, discuss clinical recommendations based on the information reviewed, vote on a decision, and make a decision based on the majority vote.
Document SCRT decisions through a written report and file the report in the inmate/resident's clinical record and distribute a copy of the report to the inmate/resident.
Deliver sex offender treatment and assessment to individuals and groups as assigned, in accordance with established performance standards. Document service delivery and resident progress on a weekly basis, completed in accordance with established standards and timeframes.
Review all Care Plans, Treatment Plans, and Annual Treatment Reviews, as assigned.
Provide supervision to clinical staff, as assigned.
Train new SCRT members, as needed.
Provide training and consultation to treatment and security staff on clinical methods and procedures.
Administer tests and assessments within scope of licensure, certification and training, as assigned.
Ability to assess treatment progress and write goal-directed, individualized recommendations, as well as the ability to monitor and document individual behavior patterns and modify recommendations to meet changing treatment goals
Ability to instruct others in the implementation of therapeutic and behavioral interventions and procedures
Excellent listening and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with the diagnostic nomenclature outlined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual
Interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport and maintain objectivity with a criminal or forensic population
Appreciation of the need for and ability to maintain appropriate personal boundaries in working with sexual offender populations
Investment in expanding current skills/knowledge and transferring this knowledge to other staff
Ability to form and maintain good working relationships with a diverse staff and a commitment to enhancing cultural competency
Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department
