Position: Electronic Security System Administrator

Salary:$ 80,022- $98, 859Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:Essential duties and responsibilities: Performs
professional and technical work providing hardware and software
support to City and School Departments.
Provides technical hardware and software support for various
operating systems; monitors operating system performance.
Controls security access to services and provides technical support
for connectivity to the Citywide public safety camera system.
Helps maintain software related to camera systems; helps evaluate
and review computer applications related to the camera security
systems.
Installs new camera hardware and software designed to work on
various operating systems, Evaluates and corrects hardware and
software failures and interfaces with support vendors on camera
system issues.
Helps update and enhance computer equipment and software for camera
system use in City Departments.
Provides assistance and training to users; helps users with new
camera products; evaluates and implements desktop products as
related to camera systems.
Maintains inventories of cameras and all related equipment; makes
recommendations to correct program errors; tests, corrects, and
debugs operational documentation and procedures.
Establishes operational standards; monitors vendors.
Repairs defective cable; installs parts and components related to
outdoor and indoor camera systems.
Schedules camera installations and required jobs to make efficient
use of vendor and internal city resources; installs new camera
system hardware and software.
Helps design and construct physical boxes for covert and overt
camera locations when needed. Verifies accuracy and alignment of
footage for desired purposes; assists IT staff with proper
documents containing camera information.
Performs daily camera administrative tasks, checking online status,
restoring connectivity after power interruption with help from
electricians and/or contractors; coordinates the running of
utilities as well as finding and solving problems.
Actively participates in ongoing education and training required by
the Department related to modernization and evolving technology.
Performs similar or related duties as required or as the situation
dictates.Supervision: Works under the general direction of the
Director of Information Technology; the employee functions
independently, referring specific issues to the supervisor only
when clarification or interpretation of policy or discussion of a
technical matter may be required; considerable independent judgment
is required to provide professional advice; technical expertise is
required to apply standard professional techniques. Supervisory
Responsibilities: Does not generally supervise other employees,
except in emergency situations or as directed by the Department
Head.
Requirements:
Preferred Education and Experience:Bachelor's Degree or Technical
School Degree desired in computer science or a related field; five
years of camera installation experience and related technical
experience; A+, N+, MCP. MA Construction Supervisor (Unrestricted),
OSHA 30 training, or an equivalent combination of education and
experience. MA Hoisting Engineer (1C) license required at time of
hire or within time frame established by Director.Knowledge, skills
and abilities: Thorough knowledge of information technology, camera
systems, wiring and connectivity; knowledge of construction related
rules and safety, ability to operate tools, vehicles, and equipment
associated with the job, familiarity with applications and
policies, particularly those for use in local government also
imperative. Ability to identify and solve a range of problems;
ability to provide technical support; ability to communicate
effectively in written and oral form; ability to explain camera
technology to system users is also extremely important. Excellent
communication and public relations skills as well as applying
technological solutions to local government problems.Physical
Demands: Moderate physical effort is required to perform most
duties; some duties require minimal effort. Required to stand,
walk, sit, speak, hear, use hands to operate or repair equipment as
well as operate a bucket truck and/or an automobile. Vision
requirements include the ability to read/analyze documents and use
computers.Work Environment:The work environment involves everyday
discomforts typical of a municipal setting. Interruptions, noise,
or physical surroundings may be distracting, but conditions are
generally not unpleasant. Work is performed in outdoor as well as
indoor conditions; daily work is subject to unplanned events, such
as system emergencies, natural disasters, and automobile accidents.
Operates standard office equipment, uses hand tools, operates an
automobile; operates a bucket truck; has regular contact with City
and School staff. Works closely with supporting vendors, suppliers,
and consultants. Errors could result in delay or loss of service,
damage to equipment, monetary loss, or legal repercussions.
