ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (e.g., in order to be considered to perform this position, the person must be able to perform essential duties and responsibilities listed below): ----- - Provides academic support and tutoring in all major subject areas during the academic year ----- - Conducts individual and small group tutorials ----- - Assist with and contribute to the preparation of class material and student reports ----- - Serves as a mentor to students ----- - Chaperones field trips and participates in Saturday workshops once a month (if schedule permits) ----- - Completes Program evaluation forms ----- - Enforces and abides by the Upward Bound rules and regulations ----- - Attends orientation, program staff meetings, and End of Program events REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Education and Experience: --- Demonstrated experience working with the target population. --- College students in good academic standing with a grade point average of a 2.5 or higher. --- Sensitive to the needs of urban high school students. --- Knowledge of test-taking and study skills. Qualifications: --- Ability to work independently with diverse groups. --- Familiarity and comfort with all major subject areas. --- Ability to assist others in understanding concepts. --- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with target population. --- Demonstrated professionalism and maturity..
