GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:The Milieu based Clinical Educator II contributes to the primary mission of the Adolescent ART by being the primary teacher of DBT skills on the unit. This includes responsibility for a formal DBT skills class every day, supplemented by DBT workshops to reinforce skills. The Clinical Educator will help insure that all of the relevant DBT skills groups take place each shift. The Clinical Educator is also responsible for assisting the Nurse Manager and Program Director in the day to day operation of the MSE ART and will provide leadership and support to the CRC staff. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1.Conducts DBT skills group in a classroom setting every day, consistent with standards of DBT education.2.Conducts relevant skills reinforcement groups (workshops) daily according to the unit schedule.3.Understands the theoretical frame of DBT and applies these principles to interactions with clients and families.4.Utilizes techniques in line with theoretical approach of the unit to provide skills coaching and support in groups and in the municates and interacts effectively and collaborates with academic and clinical colleagues, including participating actively in rounds.6.Utilizes effective group techniques to maintain a therapeutic learning environment.7.Responds quickly and sensitively to emergencies and to momentary client distress.8.Reports all patient incidents/concerns to the Milieu Manager and/or Program Director.9.Understand issues of confidentiality and follows related policies and procedures.10.Serves as liaison between CRC staff and the clinical and administrative staff.11.Provides supervision of residents and other duties as assigned.WORKING CONDITIONS: Residential Adolescent DBT Program.All McLean team members are expected to consistently demonstrate our values of integrity, compassion, respect, diversity, teamwork, excellence and innovation in their work activities and interactionsQualifications QUALIFICATIONS:Experience working with complex mental health issues on an adolescent unit preferred. Must possess basic computer skills to use a variety of electronic of online systems for communication, clinical and administrative purposes.
