Job Description:
Do you like to make a difference in a child’s life; Support
learning and self-regulation in the home and community? Help a
teenager with autism gain social skills, self advocacy and self
regulation. The Arc of Greater Brockton is hiring Skills Trainers
to work 3 - 5 hours/week with children/young adults with autism on
a 1 -1 basis during afterschool hours/weekends. We have openings in
Weymouth, Brockton and Bridgewater. What we do: As a Skills Trainer
your goal is to encourage skill building and independence! This
position will provide individualized support to students
participating in home-based or community-based activities, helping
the child to learn or strengthen daily living skills, independent
living skills and community living skills. This may include
behavioral support, personal hygiene tasks, chores, meal
preparation, money management, using the library, making a purchase
at a store, or participating in a group-based community setting
such as a gym or swim program, etc. We are looking for experienced
teachers, para-professionals and/or college students with
significant experience supporting children with autism and other
developmental disabilities. What you need: Be at least 18 Valid
driver license Access to an insured vehicle to use for work
purposes (we reimburse mileage) Soft Skills, such as: patience,
punctuality, empathy, and good judgement Personal and/or
professional experience supporting people with disabilities,
especially those with behavioral support needs• Bachelor's Degree
in a related field such as education, psychology, etc., and at
least two years of relevant experience in working on skills
development with individuals with developmental disabilities. OR •
If Bachelor's degree is in an unrelated field, staff must have a
minimum of three years of experience working with individuals with
developmental disabilities. OR • High School Diploma or GED
Certificate and at least five years of relevant experience in
working on skills development with individuals with developmental
disabilities. What you get: Flexible Hours Competitive hourly
